Many of the visitors headed to Sosua choose it as a location because it is located in the Puerta Plata area.
There you will find many different resorts to stay at, and a majority of those resorts can be all inclusive
options. The beauty of an all inclusive resort is that many of your activities, your food, and your drinks are
included in your nightly room rate. However, what many visitors do not realize is that there is quite a bit to
explore outside the walls of your resort.
Sosua is actually a quaint beach town during the day. The beaches in that area are some of the most beautiful on
the island. In fact, this is one of the beaches that the locals like to travel to because of its inherent beauty.
However, this is not all that Sosua has to offer. As the day fades into night this quiet beach town starts to get
exciting.
The bars start to open up, and the town of Sosua is filled with beach bars. Each one of these bars has a very open
air feel to them. That allows you to sit and have a drink while taking in the natural beauty of the area.
Additionally, you can find many locals hanging out in these beach bars which allows you the opportunity to get a
taste of the Dominican Republic culture. However, a word of caution. Working girls are present in Sosua so you will
want to take care to steer clear of those.
If you prefer a more active scene do not worry Sosua does not just have laid back bars. It does have a bit of a
club scene, and the most well known club is Club X. From the moment you set foot into the Sosua area you will
notice all of the Club X advertisements. While it is an average sized club it stays open far into the early hours
of the morning. Generally, that means that you can cut a rug for hours at a time.
For those who are truly looking for something different during the late night hours you might want to check out the
Sosua casino. Thankfully none of the table stakes are too high, and that makes it easy for just about anyone at any
budget to sit down at a table and test lady luck.
